Big News -- Negaunee Miners are doing Good Things!
The Negaunee Public School District is proud to share that the District is one of 84 school districts across the country that has been selected as a 2025-2026 Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase District! This award reflects a district-wide commitment to lead with intention, and create spaces where students and staff feel seen, heard, and valued every single day by incorporating the Capturing Kids' Hearts methods and practices. The District has implemented the Capturing Kids' Hearts process through specialized staff training and workshops over the past few years. The positive impact of CKH can be seen in measurable improvements in attendance, academic performance, discipline referrals, and school culture positivity. NPS is honored to accept this recognition on behalf of our students and staff who are committed to doing heart-centered work, and it's worth celebrating. Go Miners!
In addition, Lakeview Elementary School and Negaunee Middle School have received special recognition as Capturing Kids' Hearts National Showcase Schools. We are proud of the students, staff and administrators at Lakeview and NMS for putting the CKH methods into practice, where everyday routines involve inclusion and leading with the heart. This recognition shines a spotlight on specific schools that are going above and beyond to create environment that is safe and welcoming, where students are eager to learn, and support each other. NPS students, staff, and administrators take part in CKH Leadworthy lessons and positive interaction models, in turn strengthening the Miner community.
