Superintendent's Message
It is an honor to serve a community that is rich in history and tradition, whole-heartedly supports education, and works together to ensure the success of every student. As Superintendent, I will strive to provide leadership and support for the continued success and positive growth that has become synonymous with Negaunee Public Schools.
Our schools prosper because of the strong and lasting partnerships we have built—with parents, families, and the greater community. This collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. The 2025-2026 school year will add new students, families, and staff to those partnerships, along with updates to our buildings, security measures, and technology. Each school building has several new staff members and administrators; with cooperative teamwork between new and experienced employees, the expectation of success and time-honored traditions will continue for our students and District well into the future. Over the summer months, the Custodial staff has been hard at work completing maintenance and cleaning projects so that our buildings are in prime condition to welcome approximately 1,550 students through our doors on August 26. The newly remodeled high school office is almost finished, and the updated space and secure entryway is a major improvement, benefitting both students and staff. The Administrative office staff will soon be making their move up the hill to a new office within the high school renovation. We are proud of our dedicated staff, outstanding facilities, and a long-standing commitment to excellence in academics, athletics, the arts, and character development that makes this District so special.
On behalf of the entire Negaunee Public School District, I want to convey our sincere appreciation to the community for supporting our recent Sinking Fund Millage–Thank You! With those votes of confidence, the District is fortunate to have financial security for many years, and in turn will be able to continue to provide the exceptional educational experience that families seek and students thrive in.
Together, we can continue to build on a tradition of pride and achievement, preparing our students for bright futures in an ever-changing world. The Negaunee Public School District is committed to excellence in all that we do, and we thank you for your continued support and for being a vital part of our school community and Miner pride.
Warm regards,
Andy Skewis
Superintendent of Schools
